We took Cooper and Amelia this afternoon because their mom was not feeling well and we walked around the temple and fed ducks at the nature park.  It was a warm summer day and we had a lot of fun.

Have I mentioned that every Sunday, with ay piece of paper you get, you turn it into a paper airplane?    This has been going on for at least a year and at first, you needed someone to make it for you, but now, you make it for yourself and also make one for Connor.

Another busy day!  We went to a huge community garage sale and you worked your magic and got yourself some good deals.  Every time I turned around, you were asking people how much items cost.  You ended up with an army plane, which is your 2nd one in 2 weeks, a car holder that is shaped like a tire and some books.  But, if you had your way, or more money, you would have ended up with a lot more.

We then went to Grandma's and helped her a little bit and you and Connor helped me clean the car and we cleaned it really good!  Then we went to Bear World.  Connor and you really love going there and it is a lot of fun!  You both really love the rides nd you are both thrilled that one of the rides from last year that was broken is now fixed.

Then we went grocery shopping and by then you were both exhausted, but after dinner,  I did get you both to help me clean your bedroom.  You are so funny with your "treasures"!  You are a little bit of a hoarder and everything you find or anything you think is important, your out under you bed.  You even have a box full almost of rocks and another box full of used glow sticks.  When it gets messy and disorganized, you are pretty good at getting it all put back together.  Our deal is you can keep anything you want under the bed as long as you keep it all in boxes and cleaned up.

At the end of the day, you told me thank you for taking you to garage sale.  I love it when you thank for me things like that.  I love doing things with you boys and it makes it so much sweeter when you give me a thank you!  I love you, Triston!

We had a ward dinner tonight at a nearby park.  You had a lot of fun and played with a lot of different friends.  You can make friends wherever we go and play with any kids around.

We also went bowling with Jeni, John and Mckayla.  You bowled a 102!  You take it very seriously.  Sometimes you used the ramp, but when you didn't, you could roll the ball really well!  At Fatcats where we went, there was a lady doing face painting.  You and Triston love getting your face painted.  You got a pirate look, with a bandana and eye patch.  Connor got a dolphin and Mackayla got a butterfly.

Happy Birthday to Grandma Packer!  You got to stay with Grandma for a while this afternoon and of course helped plant more flowers and play with the new kitty.

We then had a dinner for Grandma at a Mexican restaurant and then had cake for her at home.  You love Grandma and Grandpa so much!  We are so lucky that we get to live so close to them.

Aunt Suzanne was with us tonight and we don't see her very often.  She was very surprised to see your "grown-up" side as she watched you order your food and how you talked to to her.  You asked for tomatoes on the side, which shocked even me.  You really are a little grown up!

Today as we were driving around Rexburg, you saw a house for sale and said that maybe you would buy that when you grew up.  I told you that when you grew up, you could end up living anywhere you wanted.  Connor said he wanted to live in Mountain Home and you asked him if that was so he could see Quinton everyday and Connor said "yes".

We then started talking about what you both wanted to be when you grew up.  Today, you had found our box of old Halloween costumes and you wore the police costume almost all day.  So, you said that being a policeman would be really cool because they get to have guns and lasers.  But then you said that you really want to be a doctor because you really want to help people.  And then your little mind got to thinking and you decided that policemen also help people, so you might be a policeman!  Connor decided that he wanted to be doctor because they are really important.  I know that whatever you do become, you will be great and amazing and I know that no matter what, you will always help people!

On our way home from Idaho Falls today, you and Connor started playing " I Spy".  Your picks were a little abstract.  You once said that you saw something shiny, which ended up being my skin, because you said it was shiny in the sunlight.  We also started saying things that we liked the best about each other.  You said that you loved Connor because he was your little brother and you liked him even when he was mean.  Connor said that he liked you because you always pick nice shirts to wear.  And you said that you loved me because I played with you.

We went to the splash park for the first time this summer and I was shocked at how much fun you and Connor had!  You both went down the slides, which has never happened before.  I think you went down the slide once at the end of last summer!  And you didn't let the cold stop you, either!  Last summer, you would get cold and then stand in one place and shiver, or lay on the warm concrete.  But, today you just kept running around and getting wet!

During sharing time today, Connor got upset because he wasn't chosen to do an activity.  I was told that you tried to comfort him and cheer him up and when you couldn't, you took him out into the hall to find me.  You are such a good big brother!

We spent the afternoon at Grandma's house and had dinner.  I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

At the end of today, you said if was great day!  We went to some garage sales with Grandma in the morning and at one place you bought a small army plane and the lady there gave you some free books.  She gave you an amazing dinosaur pop-up book.  It really is a cool book and you have barely put it down since you got it and you love to show everyone!  

We spent the rest of the day hanging out at Grandma's.  We helped her make a new swing for the swing set and a swing made out of a snow board.  We planted flowers and played in the water and you drove the tractor all over the yard!  I am so glad we have Grandma's house to go to for you to have such a great time!

I had support group tonight, so you and Triston got to spend some time at Grandma & Grandpa's house and you had a great time.  You helped Grandma pick out goldfish for the pond at her house and  then you helped clean out the pond, so you dished out water and scrubbed rocks.  You also helped water flowers and Grandma always keeps you busy with other chores around the yard and you love it!  You are always a big help to Grandma and Grandpa!  You were so upset when I showed up after 9:30 to take home.

We took a short drive to the Teton Dam site with Jeni, John and Mackayla.  There is not much to look at, but it was interesting to go there.  I don't think you and Connor really understood what a flood was, but we are planning on going to Teton Dam museum in Rexburg soon. You and Connor just enjoy playing outside and looking for treasures and bugs.  On the drive there, you said you saw a "period".  I was confused until I saw the potato warehouse that looked like a pyramid.  So, I got a good chuckle out of that.

You and Connor are so funny to talk to sometimes.  We have a lot of long conversations in the car and the topic as of late is about resurrection.  We end up talking a lot about our bodies and spirits and what happens to them.  You are the most concerned about being able to have Ruff Ruff and Hearts with you and you just really hope you can have them in Heaven.  And today, you really wanted to know what will happen to earth and if we will be able to still visit it.  I don't know if I have ever thought of that before.  You really like to think about things and talk about them until you understand it all in a way that makes you happy

You did not have a very good day.  Connor and you had a scheduled dentist appointment for your 6 month check-up.  You have been looking forward to this for months!  First of all the dentist is really, really nice and he gives you a token to choose a prize with.m and second, you wanted to ask the dentist if at of your teeth were starting to get loose.  Several of your friends in kindergarten lost teeth, so you have been waiting and waiting for it to happen to you.  We got there at 4:00 and shortly after, the electricity went off.  Apparently, it was off in most of the town, and so we decided to reschedule.  You were SO upset!  And I mean the upset where you were sobbing and wailing and I could not comfort you and you would not stop.  I felt really sad for you and even the dentist tried to help, but you would not stop.  I hope you always stay this excited to see the dentist!

Your day did not get any better when you found out that Connor got invited to Kasen's house tomorrow morning.  You were invited too, but you have drama camp.  So, there was another fit of sobbing and wailing.  This led to you going to bed at 7:15,

I have been dragging you boys to Biolife twice a week and you really like going because you really like the lady who is in the day care center.  Her name is Kathy, but you call her "Taffy". I have tried to get you to say Kathy, but you tell me that Kathy has said it's ok if you call her Taffy.  She always gets really great art projects and coloring pages for you to work on and she plays games with you, so you really do have a great time.  But, you and Connor are getting a little tired of driving to Idaho Falls so often and I really don't blame you!

You love to make new friends and no matter where we go, if there are any children there, you will become friends with them.  It amazes me and makes me proud that you want to be friends with everyone.

We went to the sand dunes tonight with Grandma and Grandpa and Jeni, John and Mackayla and you LOVED it and had so much fun running all over the place and getting buried in the sand!

On the way home, you and Connor talked about how great it would be to live right next to the sand dunes.  I tried to convince you that we live about as close as you can get.  I guess we will have to go more often.

You cleaned your room today for a while and then told me that you worked so hard that you were working up a sweat and that you needed a break!  You are a great worker and you make me very proud!

You have been so thoughtful of others lately and you love making cards and notes for others.  You are getting really good at drawing pictures like rainbows and houses.  But, you do need to work on your handwriting.  It can be pretty sloppy, so we are going to work on that this summer!

The last four have really flown by.  Ten days ago, you finished Kindergarten and you are already excited to start first grade.  On your last day, your class went to Bear World and you were really exited about that.  The day before that you had a field day and got to play on a jumpy house.  You did excellent in Kindergarten and I am so proud at how much you have learned!  You are reading so well and walk around reading signs and labels everywhere we go.

You turned 6 on March 23 and we had a party at Leo's in Idaho Falls.  Jeni and Heather's family were there and we all had a lot of fun.  Grandma made you a Lego cake and you said that you had the best day ever!  We even had an Easter egg hunt at the Scout Office.

You got a new bike this spring, because your old one was way too small.  Nolan put some pegs in the back, so you are even starting to do some tricks on them.

You had a tumbling recital a couple of weeks ago, which was really fun.  Your class performed to a song from Peter Pan and you were an Indian.  The very most important thing for you regarding the recital was getting a candy lei from Grandma.  You got one from her from your recital 2 years ago and you made sure that Grandma knew you expected another one.  And you also couldn't wait to get another medal.  You also got Connor very excited to receive a lei and a medal.  You did so well with your routine!  You actually knew it so well that you could chant out the moves to lead the other boys.    You are also getting really good with the tricks and you are excited that you are getting close to being able to do a backflip.

This week you joined Rexburg Community Theatre and will be performing Aladdin Jr at the end of June.  You and Mackayla will be going every day from 9:30 to 12:00.  I think you are really enjoying the practices and have enjoyed making new friends.  You are in the chorus and you will also be a guard.

Last Thursday, Connor and you were playing on the new office chair that Grandpa brought for me.  You were taking turns pushing each other around the kitchen floor and you were both having a great time.  Unfortunately, Connor fell off and broke his collar bone.  You have been a great help to him.  You have doe some of hi chores and you make sure he is ok.  I think you are both just excited that you both have now broken a bone and can compare war stories.

We planted a garden and you had to make sure we had carrots, because they are your favorite vegetable!  We also planted pumpkins and watermelon in Grandma's garden, because they have more room.

We went to lunch with Cooper and Kasen to McDonalds and there was a post that you were able to climb to the top of and you were so proud and happy!  All the other kids then tried to follow what you did.

You spent sme time at Grandma's today and she gave you a journal.  You actually really like it and after you went to bed, I caught you writing in it.  I love how you take everything so seriously.  When you hear that you should write in journal, you do it, when you hear you should read the Book of Mormon,  you do it.

You need to always remember how protective Connor is of you.  I got mad at you yesterday for something and Connor got so mad at me and kept telling me to be nice to you and not to get mad at you.  He may drive you crazy and he may pick on you a lot, but he s fiercely loyal to you!

This morning, you were finding many different ways to exercise.  You used the eleptical, did jumping jacks and ran around the house and kept telling me that you had to do 10 more, so I showed you how to do sit-ups.  You kept telling me that you needed to exercise so that you could become a super hero.  We recently read a book about how a dog made himself a super hero by exercising and making himself strong.  You told me you wanted to become strong so you could be a super hero and help people and help doggies.  You have always had a super hero heart and love to help people!

So, you are still "moved" out.  All day I kept warning you that you would have to sleep in your own bed tonight and you were not happy.  But, I need the office to use the eleptical in the morning and I think you will sleep better in your own bed for school tomorrow.  You got mad and started moving all your stuff from the office to the living room and when I said no to that, you asked if you could move into the kitchen.  And then you tried to bargain with me and asked if you could move for 10 days and then move back to your room for 10 days.  This whole thing is still so funny.  You told me that you really just like to move.  I will try top find ways so that you can "move" more often.

Oh, how you made me laugh today!  We got a lot of snow today and had fun playing in it this morning.  We sledded down the piles of snow in the parking lot and I pushed you and Connor around on the sled.  It was a lot of fun and when we came in, you asked if we could all sit together and watch a movie.  So, we all cuddled on the couch and watched "Toy Story".  After the movie, you grabbed your Buzz Lightyear and reenacted some of the scenes from the movie.  You made a spaceship out of a box and had Buzz pretend to fix it.  It was super cute!

And then the cutest thing of all - you moved out today.  You decided that you wanted to move, another idea I think you got from the movie, so you started taking some of your stuff into the bathroom and you told me that you were ready to move out and that I should ring your "doorbell".  I then told you that you would probably be more comfortable in the office.  So, you moved quite a few things into office before I had to stop you from actually entirely moving!  You kept telling me "I am actually doing this, I am moving.  I am ready to be on my own."  When I went to look at your new place, you showed me where you put your blankets and books and toys and the night light.

Of course, Connor was right behind you with everything of his and loved the whole "moving" process.  The part that made me laugh so much, was how serious you were about it all.

When I started talking about when you should move back to your old room, you were very upset that I would even mention it.  I tried to talk you into just moving out for the weekend,but you didn't even like that idea.  So, you and Connor are sleeping in there tonight and the last thing you asked me was if you had to sleep in your beds other nights, could you leave all the stuff you moved in, because that was a lot of work.  Oh, I will be going to sleep with a grin on my face tonight!

Today was your 100 days of school party and you got to wear pj's to school and you took 100 rocks to count and came back with some of the things your friends took to count like, fruit loops, Legos, elastic bands and marshmallows.  You even learned a song of the occasion.

We all finished a helicopter Lego set that Connor got for Christmas.  You actually did most of the work and we were all excited about the end product!  Putting Legos together is still pretty hard for Connor, so he really appreciated the help.

Tonight you told me that you wanted to go to a desert because you wanted to explore it.  You knew that you would need to being lots of water.  And then you decided that you wanted to go around the whole world.  You said that way you would be able to see Quinton and Rachel and giraffes and cheetahs and hippos.  You said you really, really want to do this.  That would be amazing!

Daddy took you to a pet store and you have decided that you want a frog as a pet.  You have it all planned out that it needs a cage and water and food.  Well, your birthday is coming up!

You are sure enjoying our new rule of if you sleep in your own bed all night, you get a quarter.  Ever since we started it 5 nights ago, you have earned a quarter each night.  I actually feel bad not wanting you and Connor in the bed with me, because I love that you want to be with me and I do love snuggling with you, but I also love my won space while sleeping and when both of you end up in my bed, I end up with about 5 inches of sleeping space, and I am afraid to move and waking you up. So, this does work out better for all of us.

We had lunch with Cooper and his mom at McDonalds and you really wanted to try the new McFish bites they are now serving.  I was really shocked when you liked them and ate 8 of them.  No one else liked them, so I was really proud of you.  I really, really do not like fish and wish you and Connor did, because it is so good for you!

You have to bring 100 items to school tomorrow, so we went to the dollar store and you picked out a bag of rocks.

Happy Presidents Day!

So, no school today, but we did something we haven't done since last August and Grandpa's cancer scare - we went swimming at The Apple and had tons of fun!  You have always been a brave little swimmer and as long as you had your swimmers vest, you would swim all over the pool.  But, the only best we had needed to go to Connor, so you swam without one and you did amazing!  You would put your face in the water and swim a couple of inches.  I just couldn't believe at how good you were at putting your face in the water.  You still need to work on the technique, but you are brave and quite a little fish!

We had dinner with most of the family at Grandma's house and we all looked at the pictures of their trip to New Zealand and Australia.  You were just happy to play with cousin Logan.

I don't know why, but you were really tired tonight and you become so sensitive when you are tired.  You cry over the smallest things and it actually breaks my heart.  You felt so sad when Logan didn't share a cell phone game and when you dropped a strawberry.  You just have the most sensitive heart!

Both you and Connor have been terrible at getting in bed with me every night and it drives me crazy, so I made a deal with you both that if you slept in your own beds all night you would get a quarter.  You have gone two nights and you are very proud to get those quarters!

Today we were playing the "I love you all the way to..." game.  You said you loved me all the way to the stars and the universe and to Heaven.  I didn't know how to beat that so I said, "what can be farther than Heaven?"  And you answered with "Disneyland?"

Jeni had a party at her house with a few couples in our ward and we got home tonight, the parking lot was full of cars and you asked why and I told you that Jeni was having a party.  You insisted on going upstairs to see what was going on and when you saw that they were all just sitting around, we left and you asked why they were just sitting around.  I guess you thought it looked pretty boring!

We went to Gringo's for dinner tonight to celebrate Aunt Jeni's birthday.  You really wanted to sit by Grandpa!  Grandma Packer keeps telling me that you are such a serious little boy and she is right.  You are kind of serious and when you explain things to me, you always have a very serious look on your face.  But, you can have a very silly side as well.  What I truly want for you is to happy, so I will do whatever I can to make sure that happens!

Your friend Hampton came over today.  He ,over out of our ward so we don't see him very often, but his mom needed to take his little brother to the doctor, so we also got Hampton's 9 month old sister.  You sure like little babies.  You kept trying to find toys that would make her happy.

For the last week or so, after I put you in bed you take out your Book of Mormon and read it.  Oh, how proud you make me!  I know you can only read the small words that you know, but you are creating such an important habit!

Happy Valentines Day!!!!

You told me that you had the "best" day!  You had so much fun at school with your Valentines Day party. You came home and when I made you leave to run errands, before you got a chance to look at all them, you were so sad!  So, I am so sorry!

Your friend Hampton brought over some cookies for you and Mackayla gave you some little toys and some candy and Mommy gave you a sock monkey, which you really wanted, and some chocolates.

The funniest part of the day was when I asked you if Annabelle was your special Valentine today and you got so embarrassed, you even blushed.  You giggled and told me that I didn't want to hear about it.  You finally told me that Annabelle and you hugged yesterday and you told her the secret that you two were getting married.  Too, too funny! But I still wish this phase would pass and we could stop talking about you getting married!

When I picked you up from kindergarten today, you told me that you and Annabelle were no longer apart and that you were getting married again.  I do think it is cute to hear 5 year olds talking about marriage, but I do want to know which 5 year old started all this.  I did become less worried when you explained to Cooper that you can't get married until after your mission and college.

I think you are pretty excited for Valentines day tomorrow.  All week you have been asking when you can take your cards to school.

In the afternoons, when Connor takes a nap and Mommy works, you have your own quiet time.  You usually play "Mario" or "Lego Batman" on the WII.  It is amazing how well you can these games.  No one has ever showed you how to play and you have figured it out all on your own.  I have no gaming skills and when you ask me to play, I don't have a clue how to do any of it.  You even show John, Cooper and Connor how to play!

The last couple of days, you have asked me to watch a movie with you during this quiet time.  And it makes me so sad that I had to say no to you.

Grandma and Grandpa Packer finally came home today from their almost 4 week long trip to New Zealand and Australia and you were so excited to see them.  Every time you went to Grandma's to stay with Daddy, you wanted to know if Grandma and Grandpa were back yet.

They gave a baseball hat that says "New Zealand" and you were thrilled.

Once again when it started getting dark at night, you said you wanted to wish for a million dollars.  When I asked what you would do with that much money, you said you would save it and buy a car and buy lots of toys.  I sure wish I could make that dream come true for you!  If only to see your faith rewarded and to see you keep believing in wishes!

We all stayed home from church today.  You have a little bit of a cough and Connor has more of a cough, so we had a pj day and stayed home all day.  We watched "Fox and the Hound" and made Valentines for grandparents and cousins and made your Valentine box for school.  You even made me a couple of Valentines.  Thank you!

You practiced jump roping with a stuffed snake and you got pretty good.  I bet you would be really good with a real jump rope.

We were driving while it was dark tonight and you saw the stars and told me you saw the first one and made a wish.  I am not sure where you learned about the stars and wishes, but you very excitedly told me you wished that a million dollars would appear in your bank.  I was so torn about what to tell you.  I want you to keep this precious child faith and always believe in wishes, but I had to explain to you that wishes do not always come true, but it is important to keep wishing.  So, then you told me that it would be ok if your wish didn't come true, but you sure hope that it would.

When we got home the first thing you did was check your bank and you told me that your wish didn't come true, but it was ok!  I love your faith and I love you!

January - February 8, 2013

Trston, you are such a joy in my life!  You are so loving and you have such a kind heart!  Just last night you wanted Connor, me and you to sit on the couch and watch a movie together because it is almost Valentines Day and that is a good way to show that we love each other.  You also told me that I am all you ever need.  You try so hard to help me and be good and I love you so much!

You are doing so well in kindergarten and I am constantly proud of you.  You are exceling in reading.  Every day, you come home with a "Baggie Book", which is a short book and you learn them very quickly.  You mostly enjoy doing your homework packages each week, but you like doing the "fun" pages first.  You don't like the pages where you practice writing letters.  You read the entire "Dick and Jane" book and now we are working on other books that are at a first grade level.

I am afraid that are pretty popular with the girls in your class.  At the beginning of the school year, your favorite friend to play with was a girl in your class, but I you could never remember her name.  Then you told me that your girlfriend was Annabelle.  Every time she was mentioned, you would get embarrassed and shy about it.  And then last week, you told me that a different girl held your hand during center time, but you don't know her name.  This led to a discussion regarding marriage.  And you were quite surprised to learn that you won't get married until after your mission and college.  You are very concerned about what age that will be.

We have gone sledding a couple of times and you love it!  You love going fast and never complained about being cold.  Unfortunately, the last time we went, you ran into a tree and hurt your pinky finger.  It got better pretty quickly, but you were so sad about it.

You have really been enjoying putting Legos together.  You and Connor got a few sets for Christmas and even though you still need my help, you are getting really good at it.

You really are such a special rainbow in my life.  Thank you!
